The common core modules written by New York State emphasize learning targets for each lesson. The idea is that students know exactly what they are supposed to learn from the lesson before it starts. Today we took some time to brainstorm life targets. Students discussed how they would like to be known as teenagers and adults before becoming them. It was exciting to see eleven year olds make intentional declarations about their lives to come. Most kids mentioned careers and staying away from drugs and alcohol. A few students shared their desire to be known as a good person or someone that encourages others.
What intentions have you set for your life? What about your day?
