Proactive versus reactive

The babies are officially on the move. Today one of them knocked over the garbage full of dirty wipes, the toilet bowl brush and holder, the diaper pail full of urine soaked diapers, a basket of soiled washcloths and a bowl of Cheerios. Although part of me wanted to scream and throw up my hands, I forced myself to take the high road and chose instead to be proactive instead of reactive. The diaper pail went to the closet. The garbage, on top of the dresser, the washcloths in the tub and the toilet bowl brush and holder scrubbed clean. Now, the babies can practice their newfound crawling skills and I can cook dinner.

How can you chose to be proactive instead of reactive in your life?
