My sister in law lives in a beautiful, Philadelphian row house. Looking out the second story window to her neighbor’s wall, there is a tiny, flowering plant, clinging to the side of the century old brick. Despite all odds, a beautiful flowering plant has somehow taken root in the cracks and been nourished by the rain. In my years of teaching students with exceptional needs, my goal is to help each student be that thriving flower by defying all odds and holding fast to the path of learning and personal growth. Often times I get to see those “flowers” bloom in unexpected ways.
When have you beaten the odds?
