Today I had the privilege of hanging out with folks from various walks of life; an ER nurse coordinator, an academic in labor rights, a neuro-scientist, and a stay at home mom. What made this group so interesting was that everyone there really loved what they do. They spoke with passion about brain scans, the relationship between human resources and unions, the psycho-social complexities of the Emergency Room staff and navigating urban environments with children in the US and Canada. Although there was a rousing round of pin the tail on the donkey and very cute butterfly cupcakes, it was beyond an ordinary 4th birthday party. I left feeling thankful that I was also a happy participant, passionate about my work and my life.
