Usually on nights that my wife, Laura works, my parents or a friend comes over to help with the dinner and bed routine. Tonight I was on my own. I realized this with a slight panic and attempted to call a few others who might be available to hold a baby for a few minutes during the tricky part of the evening. No one I called was available. I called Laura at work and she said, remember your own advice, “You can do this, don’t give your power away and believe you are incompetent without the help of others. You’ve got this.”
The night went without a hitch and all four kids were asleep before 7:30. Laura was right, all I needed was to take my own advice.
How can you help others heed their own advice?
