By the time the babies were awake from their morning naps and we packed into the car, we reached Long Beach just in time for high tide. The dogs ran into the icy ocean with happy tails wagging all the way. We enjoyed the “short” beach, finding treasures and smelling the sea breeze. What struck me most was witnessing the inevitability of the tide. No matter what the nap schedules are or whether or not we visit at all, the tide will come and go. Every time it does, the water leaves the beach with a fresh start. There are an infinite number of fresh starts that have come before today and an equal amount headed into the future.
How can we find comfort in inevitable fresh starts?
