An unavoidable educational cliche from my colleague, Amber Crowley

Today the whole school went ice skating. Some kids were flying around the rink, their hockey jerseys flapping in the wind. Other kids were holding on to the wall for dear life while inching forward with wobbly ankles and an adult nearby for support. Most kids were holding their own, making steady progress along with their friends. Everyone was on the same ice. Everyone got better at skating. This is what differentiated instruction is all about…experiencing the same ice with the right support.
