Asking for what we need

Today there was a small child running around the school. When I finally caught up to her, I squished her between two bean bags for a good five minutes until her body seemed to stay in one place. Then I noticed out loud that it must be hard to feel like her body is out of control. She said she was embarrassed when it happened and didn’t know what to do. We decided to devise a code so she could ask for what she needed in a way that worked for her.

How do we ask for what we need, even when we are embarrassed?
